Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY, born on 17 March in 1988) who is also known as Grimes is a Canadian singer, musician, music producer, and songwriter. Her range of her earlier music was described as "lo fi R&B" as well as "futuristic dance-pop". Her music has added elements of hip hop, electronic and rock. Her songs frequently touch on feminist and science fiction themes. Five albums have come out. Grimes is a native of Vancouver then moved to Montreal. She began her independent music career in late in the 2000s. In 2010, she released two albums with Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. The following year, she became a member of 4AD and gained acclaim when she released her third studio album Visions In 2012. Visions includes the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" which won it an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, was released in 2015. A number of publications have rated it the top album. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes was also an actress and judge on Alter Ego's music contests, performed as vocalist as part of Cyberpunk 2077 which was released 2020.
